Ok, Finished this Today.

Took the easy option as its only an alloy bar and its as strong as after lifting it.

Here the bar before the lift (notice big gap ~ ugly)

Drilled 1 hole each side in the bar first and fitted up to ute and marked the holes on the 12mm steel plate. (12mm is thick especially with a blunt 1/2" bit)
You also need to grind/file a 20x10mm section out of the bar to allow the mounting brackets to poke through. (horizontal plate belwo bullbar mounting tabs)

Looks good mate. What are you gonna do about insurance since you modified the bar ?

Dave.

howd u go about doing the rear bar then??? gather the bull bar is pretty easy then?

so u actually move the bar closer to the back of the car to get the height out of brackets?
i looked under there and it didnt appear that u could lift the bar up high enough without welding on another plate to mount it to?????
