The magnet is actually just on front of the drain plug. I was looking at my gearbox the wrong way but after putting it back together this morning I realised. So you should be able to clean it off by dragging it out with abut of wire.

I know it sounds dodgy but would silicone work for the sealant between the gearbox and transfer case?

10mm. mine were pretty tight. my gearbox drain plug didn't have a magnet on it. the magnets actually on top of all the gears. shit spot cause ya cant check it for shavings.

the hardening has worn of the main shaft in the gearbox, only half way around the shaft though. there doesn't seem to be any wear on the input shaft and so was wondering if there's a bigger issue of misalignment somewhere or it's just a case of replacing the main shaft and bearing?

alrighty... dropped the box and found i had a noisy throw out bearing and exessive play in the retarded dual mass fly wheel. both spnning back and forth and also rocking it side to side. so, found the problem?? so i thought. 3 hour drive into Rockhampton to get the new heavy duty clutch and...

thought they only did cruisers and patrols. i'll give them a buzz tomorrow though. nissans quote for the 11 bearings and needle rollers was $474. which was cheaper than i thought, for genuine. thanks

Chasing a gearbox bearing kit for an 08 d40 manual. Anyone know where to get them??? Had a look on eBay and rang a few bearing shops but no luck. Also chasing the tolerence's for the input shaft and measurement for the main shaft. If any one knows it would be a great help. Cheers

Took the exedy clutch kit back and replaced it with a heavy duty extreme clutch kit.... But.. After putting it all back together the noise was still there. So we've pulled the box back out and ripped it apart but nothing to obvious. So gonna put a bearing kit through it. Hopefully should be it...
