Thanks for the replies everyone. My mechanic had a look at it today and he advised to not go through with the purchase based on some mechanical issues he identified. I`ll keep hunting around or drive the X-Trail into the ground :)

Thanks tweak'e. Intake hoses are pretty easy to replace. Would prolonged uses of the wrong size hoses cause issues mechanically? Would the modded fuel filter bracket be an issue?

Also before i forget its got a dual battery system. Just not sure why you`d need that? i know the newer 2.5`s have them but i`ve never seen a 3.0litre with a dual battery system. There`s no electric brake kit in the cabin so i dont think its towed anything massive.
