Hmmmm, EGR......Something that my 03/1991 4x2 Nav has NEVER had.......... (The intake manifold is just not plumbed for it, I can see where it should be but it has never been machined to open the ports. My Nav has never had to comply with ADR27 or 27A according to the plate on the car.)

The lift pump was only in the Z24's, the Z20's all used mechanical fuel pumps. The KA24's were all fuel injected so there's a possibility, a D21 tank from a 92 model or later (the 92 on 4 cylinder cars were all KA24E's) I dunno on the diesels as I dont own one.

The other way to fix it is to get a new switch from eBay, It'll cost you about $20.00 and it takes 5 minutes to fit it. That's what I did when I had the same issues.

Here's a couple of idea's. 1. Replace the centre bearing in the tailshaft. If that doesn't fix it, 2. Replace the primary chain and cogs in the transfer case as they are badly worn. If that doesn't fix it: 3. Send the vehicle to me, I need some spares :) Seriously, it will probably be the first...
