I had a similar problem I thought it was the individual switches but I replaced the Master Switch($39 bucks off Ebay free Post) hope this helps and I haven't had an issue since Cheers Tim

If it went bang as you have said I'd be inclined to agree with tweak'e and Scuba Steve and check under the rocker cover to see if anything is still spinning if it's not you more than likely have a busted timing chain
