I busted it in S.A. a local in the town did it I live in Melbourne. I got the conversion kit from Queensland about $2000, that included the hire of special tools and shims etc the labour to fit that and the new head , plus a few other parts $2700

Get it done straight away, I broke one 8 weeks ago , fitted duplex chain and change over head bent valve, all up cost $7750, now I have a slight leak around the timing cover and sump joint.

I broke a timing chain, in S.A. and had it replace along with a new timing cover, it is weeping oil in the corners where the sump meets the timing cover. What is the best sealant to use ? Could anyone recommend a mechanic in the ringwood area to do the job at a reasonable price?

Can anyone recommend a Nissan Navara mechanic in the Ringwood area, I think I need a new sump gasket. I had a timing chain replaced in S.A. now it appears I have a slight leak from the sump gasket around where it bolts to timing cover.

No , a bang at the start, that was it.

If the chain was broken ,you wouldn't have compression. But you would have bent valves as well.

If I had found on fitted and ready to drive away $7k I would have had it. Always good to get a second opinion, beware the word total rebuild, it usually means long motor, then you get hit with the extras, oil, filters, fitting, waterpump , radiator hoses, belts, the list goes on. I hope for...

Change over head, double row chain conversion,new front cover with oil pump,plus oil and filter etc around $7500 that includes labour. You can't get a change over engine under $8000.
