It sounds like an EGR problem. I had a similar problem with my D40 at around 220,000klm - loss of power, black smoke, running terrible. Oddly enough, it ran OK in 4th gear at around 60kph I cant remember which it was but the EGR was either jammed open or jammed shut.

Yeah, I've been known to catch the odd Jewie ! This was a good one from about 4 weeks ago. It went 23kg.

Mine is 2010 RX KingCab manual which has done 225,000klm. The only problem so far has been the EGR jamming open/shut whatever. Anyway, all fixed now @ $350. Other than that its been trouble free. Fingers crossed!

Had my D40 Navara towed to a mechanic this morning to see if they could work out what the problem is. Spoke with him a little while ago and he said "no fault codes came up on the ECU" I'm not sure wether that's a good thing or not, although I suppose it makes the mechanics job little harder.

I was driving along the Pacific Motorway today when my 2010 2.5L D40 Navara suddenly lost power. Initially I couldn't work out what was going on as there was no noise but the engine was still running but wouldn't do much over 2000rpm, and if or when it did, I could see plenty of black smoke in...

My 2010 Thai built D40 King Cab 2.5L has 215,000klms on the clock and never had an issue with anything. In fact, its never been back to a dealer since the day I picked it up. I've used Ryco oil filters and Delo400 since day one.

Has anyone purchased a top radiator hose for a Thai built King cab D40 2.5L recently? Most Auto shops are asking anywhere from $50- $100 but my local dealer quoted me $21 for a genuine part after I gave him the VIN of my vehicle. I'm confused !!!!! Anyone with experience ?

How many klms had your D40 done before you thought it needed a new chain ?

My 3 year old D40 KingCab has now done 135, 000klm's and I'm starting to get paranoid about the cam chain, or a least getting it replaced. Admittadly, I know several people with D40's with well over 150,000klms on the clock that haven't had cam chain's replaced. But hey, they might be just...

My 2010 6sp D40 kingCab has now done 131,000klms without a clutch problem. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe its the way I drive (like a little old lady). Anyway, all good so far.
