Re my recent topic on coolant loss in my 3.0 Diesel.
The Radiator man left the pressure tester on when the motor had cooled and discovered that after two hours the motor would not start (he only turned it over about 4 times). he left it for two hours and it started okay.
He said that it was...
Just had the CO2 test which returned negative. Had pressure test - dropped 1 pound in five minutes, but no sign of coolant leak.
More pressure tests Monday (hot and cold) then removing radiator, flushing and new hoses.
Will keep you posted,
About every 600k's I have to top up with about 300ml's of coolant in the overflow tank (I only ever check when the engine is cold). The engine starts up smoothly each morning and runs like a dream. The problem has been around since I purchased the STR 6 months and 11,00k's ago. The temp gauge...
A tad over 3000K return.
I like it outback on the big island - did 13,000K last year towing the camper trailer with an X-Trail - corrugations persuaded my upgrade to the Navara.
Just contacted the local Nissan Dealer for a price on bottom radiator hoses - quoted $160 (purchase, not fitted).
This seems completely over the top - Are there any other suppliers?

When I drained the sump it was closer to 8.5 litres and when I opened the filter housing it was almost dry and...
Thanks fella's - I do not have a current clutch problem, but I am heading away for two months outback and did not want any problems.
I posted the query as I have 140,000K's on the clock and the vehicle was owned by a tradie who did a fair bit of towing a medium trailer.
