Engine dying seconds after start up

10 days down with plenty of use and no problems so far. It seems the sensor was the problem. A rarity it seems, but, problem solved! =o)

Engine dying seconds after start up

It's on the road now... had the sensor fitted yesterday in about 15mins, but of course bringing it back meant it was warm and haven't driven it today yet... so will have to see in the coming weeks and months whether it does it again.

Engine dying seconds after start up

Finally (after some internal confusion over ordering it) it now has a new sensor on it! Now we wait... =o)

Engine dying seconds after start up

Well without changing the sensor it wont do well, so first thing is to change the sensor. After that if it still hasn't sorted it, we can go through the other suggestions and eliminate them one by one til we get it. I don't intend to not get it fixed, and the garage owner is determined to sort...

Engine dying seconds after start up

Thank you all for your suggestions... It sounds pretty normal when cranking with nothing untoward happening anywhere at all. It's been checked out by a good garage (not main dealer - am wise to how crap dealers can be), and it's had them baffled. Now for the update - It's just been back in...

Engine dying seconds after start up

Well I initially thought it might be injector problems, and although I'm not sure the mechanic still checked it - he did say (once I suggested it) that it would only get worse and even happen on the move. Now a damaged fuel pump would surely get worse as well, and although the car may not get...

Is the check something I can do? or is it a "plug in" job?

    Longitudinal steering wheel play

Thank you very much Dave. =o) I will duely leave it alone (and inform my garage it's normal - they were the ones that drew my attention to it, not being the kind of person that drives by hanging off the wheel and pulling on it)

Engine dying seconds after start up

As far as I know. The warning light doesn't stay on when starting the first time, or come back on when it dies. Unless there's a more thorough way of checking. I also kinda assume that the garage would have checked that in the service... tho i could be wrong =o)

    Longitudinal steering wheel play

Can anyone help/inform/redirect me? I have a 2005 D22 2.5d sport with a steering wheel that has easily 5mm of play in it - but not when turning, but so as it can be pulled out and pushed back in. I've tried to look for a similar topic here, but come up with nothing, although I'll happily take...

Engine dying seconds after start up

Hi all. I'm not a mechanic, or even an avid off roader, just someone who has a Navara. (Although I've been a toolmaker and not incapable mechanically, or unable to learn - just never learnt so far =o) Just joined as my 2005 Navara has had a problem even the garage can't figure out, and this...
