    Stuck in 3rd gear

Any help would be much appreciated lads Over the last month or so noticed my ute was feeling a little sticky in 3rd gear. As in it would change into 3rd fine and would drive fine but if I was slowing down for an intersection and going back down the gears it wouldn't want to disengage. I would...

Battery light on dash staying on

I have also rebuilt alternators before placey as I am an auto electrician. All I was saying is that i am 99% sure that it wouldn't be the exciter diodes or regulator for the following reasons. 1 it is very unlikely that the diodes would be causing an intermittent fault as they are solid state...

Battery light on dash staying on

Why would it have anything to do with the diodes or the regulator if it starts working after he revs it? I think it's mostly likely worn brushes. If u have a few days when u don't need the car pull it out and check them yourself.

Battery light on dash staying on

Yeah what placey said raises a good point for you Craig. You just have to look under the bonnet of any car to see that there are heaps of plugs that aren't connected to anything, this is because the manufacturing companies just pump out the one wiring harness for a variety of similar vehicles in an effort to cut costs. Yours is also wrapped up and...

    Lighting stump!!!

You should buy yourselves a test light. Multi-meters are good 95% of the time however once in a blue moon it will give u a ghost voltage and tell u that you have power there this is because a multi-meter doesn't apply a load to that voltage like I light does. Also when testing fuses with a...

Battery light on dash staying on

All of you should first check your charge rate before doing anything. Start your car and place a multi-meter over your battery terminals. You should be getting a reading of between 13.8 vdc to 14.2 vdc if your getting below this reading at idle rev the engine up to 1500 rpm. As sometimes it...
