    Dobinson Suspension upgrade

Hey guys, thinking about upgrading to a Dobinsons 2" suspension and was wanting to know if anyone else has done this to their D22? Mainly shocks, torsion bars and either upto 150kg weight leafs or extended shackles in the rear. I'm fitting a canopy next weekend and have rear the standard leaf...

Fitting a shorter canopy to a longer tub-gap filler ideas

I've finally got myself a secondhand fibreglass canopy however it is off a 2005 D22 and mine is a 2012 D22 so I have the 90mm gap at the front. I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this , so I'm wondering what I can do to fill the extra gap? I have seen one pic on FB and it appears that the...

    ARB Canopies-Top shelf or not?

Thanks for the input everyone, at the moment I've decided to get a canvas canopy made as I just can't justify spending that much money on just a canopy. Would love a fibreglass one but have other stuff I want to do to the Navvy.

    ARB Canopies-Top shelf or not?

I'm in the market to buy possibley a new ARB canopy for my D22 but would like some feedback from people who have bought them ie: how good are they, would you buy another one etc? Have priced 3XM and they are coming up dearer then the ARB. Not pricing the sleek sports style either.Crazy.

    GVM upgrade

Thanks. Yes I have heard that a few times now both on here and around town. My Nav is only 5 months old, so I think I'll fit the canopy etc and see how long I get out of stocko, which probably won't be long.

    GVM upgrade

That's good to know. I don't think I'll be carrying that much weight but who knows down the track. I was looking at airbags but not sure about them. So I think what I'll do is leave the suspension stock as it currently is, do the canopy etc and see how it travels from there. I don't want to...

    GVM upgrade

I know of one person who had a D22 which busted the chassis behind the cab but in saying that from hearing how he treated that truck it was going to happen anyway. I have been reading alot about your build Rusty, and have to say it's very close to what I want with a few differences. I do have...

    GVM upgrade

So my camper trailer is up for sale and more plotting and planning is underway in building my Navvy into great allround tourer. As I'm planning on having a fibreglass canopy, drawer system, (possibley) 60 litre water tank and Engel fridge residing in the back, the question arises of will I need...

Camping in the back of the Nav

Hmm, yes as I said only at planning stages right now but I can see how it would be uncomfortable but still do able. Fridge would be going in the back of the cab planning on removing the backseat and building a platform for it to sit on. This idea will also require more research though and I...

Camping in the back of the Nav

I'm currently looking at my camping options after selling my hard floor camper which I cannot pack up by myself, so it's completely inpractical for me. My train of thought is along the lines of: fibreglass canopy, rear drawer system with built in water tank and auxillary power outlets, fridge...

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

Ok, then would you not agree with me that improper recovery techniques more then likely contributed to these occurances happeing? And you'd be aware that genuine steel bullbars are made by ARB for Nissan.

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

I only had to remove the two outer bolts on either side of the radiator support guard and now the 3.75t D shackles fit easily.

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

Thanks Rusty, that's the size shackle I like to use however I do need to slightly modify the bullbar bashplate so they fit. I will be investing in an equalizer strap in the very near future as well. I believe in overkill when it comes to recovery equipment.

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

Thanks Bryan, that's what I thought but I'll check it out properly with Dad before removing anything.

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

Do you know the process of rating recovery points?? I would never ever ever use a towball in a recovery procedure as it is hugely unsafe. Thank you for pointing that out to me though. I have however done alot of 4wd training and recovery procedures in my life time with a number of 4wd clubs and...

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

Which is bolted directly to the chassis. I work at Nissan in spare parts as well as other areas and can't say I've ever read about them being tie down points. I often go 4wding with a co worker who the Nissan tech who fitted the bullbar and he himself has attached snatch straps etc to those...

Attaching D shackles to D22 Factory Steel Bullbar

I'm fairly certain someone would have had this issue in the past and rectified the problem. I've found that I cannot fit large D shackles to the recovery poits on my factory steel bullbar due to the bolts on the bashplate. Can I safely remove said bolts without having bits and pieces fall off...
