Hi, The 2008 will have a dual-plate clutch, the much stronger single-plate clutches started to come in with the Series 6 in 2012. As an aside, I've just had my 300,000 km service done, and original clutch is just fine!

Tyre Circumference: Just to be technically correct, the important measurement is "Rolling Circumference" - can be different from static, or off-vehicle measure, especially if 'airing down'.

Tony's right. Symptoms indicate NPS (neutral position Sensor) faulty; in top RHS of gearbox, can only access from the top.

No probs at all. The extra 'oomph' from the higher CCA spins the engine up well.

Hi, Similar vehicle, RX 'MNT',this radio. Checked yesterday, switch off with USB active, and is active immediately on next startup. [Manual supplied with ute doesn't reference this radio, annoying trying to sort out 'phone integration!]

Hi, Agreed to check the Brake (& Clutch) switches first. On my case, same symptoms, it was an intermittent fault with the NPS (Neutral Position Switch) on the top front of the Gearbox, accessible from the top by removing the console. Diagnosed initially by holding the Gearshift to the left...

VSK is the start of the VIN - VSK = Spain built, MNT = Thai built. More annoying little differences in the D40's than you'd think!

Doesn't sound right. Mine re-locks if door not opened within a certain time of unlocking via remote, ok if opened. Having said that, I'm always wary of the re-lock function, and if I do as you described, I open the drivers window - just in case!

My July 2012 RX (thus Thai-built) has the first of the factory-suppled SMF clutches - one of the reasons I bought it. No problems with use - now 260,000 km, and high loads occasionally. Son's 2012 ST Spain-built has the DMF - he always whinges when he drives mine....

As far as the SMF Clutch vs DMF goes, the RX (Thai) got the factory SMF in mid- 2012 - mine has one, and no clutch problems, now at 245,000 km. Don't know if Spain-produced D40's ever got them. Not a lot of towing, but max out the All-up weight sometimes.
