    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Problem fixed under warranty Hi all Finally it's fixed. Nissan have put a new fuel sender in and voila, it works. Very happy Jan. Nissan were very helpful and didn't bat an eyelid regarding warranty. And thank goodness, because they said they needed the car for 4-5 hours to do the job! Frankly...

    timing chain

Thanks for the comments. My source is 2009 Nissan D40 Navara Dual-Cab ST-X Diesel Review | The Motor Report: Auto News And Reviews If you scroll down past the review you'll find a bunch of posts. The one that started this line is quoted below: "To all owner of Nissan Navara D40 Diesels...

Stereo controls not working after battery change

I'm certain it would be a PIN issue. I've had to re-enter my PIN everytime the battery has been disconnected (which has been serveral times). This does put the stereo into 'I won't work mode', and the PIN fixes it every time.

    timing chain

I've scanned through all the threads and only found one reference to a timing chain problem. On other forums I'm reading that this is a consistent problem (and around a $14,000 fix in the worst scenario). Does anyone have any better information about the incidence of this trouble? I'm just...

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Problem might be solved... Tony et al, Finally got some answers from Nissan. First, I did run the thing dry, and yes, the 'missing' fuel was hiding below the red warning light. That is, I travelled 160km after the warning light and still hadn't run dry. (Usually would only get 80km after the...

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Thanks for all those thoughts Tony. I will come back with the result as soon as I have found the prob. Not going to be driving anywhere for a week or so - and I have a full tank at present - so will be a week or more before I have an answer. I have spoken to the dealer with all the clues from...

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Yep, I will. (Two months to go on warranty - so hopefully I find that Nissan is to blame...) Ian

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Thanks (and for the overflow / breather comment too. To answer your question, yes, filled right to overflowing just to rule out foam, air etc. Usually (before this problem started), I'd just let the pump click off and leave it at that. So no filling issue that I can detect. As for bowser, the...

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Thanks Matt, Yes - I'll test the run it dry theory that you've suggested, that might reveal that the guage is at fault. And no, fuel consumption is steady. Always around 11 litres - and nothing has changed (conditions, loads, tyres, speeds etc). Thanks for your help. Ian

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Hi all, Knighty again. Thanks for all the comments. To answer a few (who may have not understood my original post)... Fuel guage does read 7/8 when full. Tank goes to warning light 50kms earlier than it has done so for last year plus. Therefore running out of fuel earlier - which is consistent...

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Thanks Matt, worth a look. Could that produce an air lock or something similar? ie, there's something that is occupying around 5 litres of space in there... Cheers Ian (Knighty)

    Shrinking fuel tank!!!

Yep, it sounds daft - but read on. I think a Long Range Tank is in order - but if anyone else has experience with the following I'd love to hear about it. 2007 D40 Diesel. 75 ltr tank. Since putting Cooper STs on it a year ago, it has consistently travelled 600km before red light comes on, then...
