    Np300 stx vibration

Been a while since I have posted on here. I had a trawl through this thread and reckon people are talking about the same issue I have with my D23. Around the 100/110KMH mark mine intermittently develops a shake, I would not call it a vibration as I think that tends to confuse the issue with the...

    Lower Steering column Joint

As far as I know the machined shoulder on the shaft that allows space for the locking bolt ends before the tip of the shaft, so the bolt would need to come out completely for the shaft to be able to come free. I have not looked at a D22 shaft specifically to check that but all the other...

    Undoing electrical plugs.

Yeah, you often need a tool to help release the clips. I have found a small bit of the stainless steel strips that are part of some wiper blades to be good, you can put a bend in them to access the clip. Best off not cutting the clips off if you can help it, nothing worse than intermittent...

    NP300 First Impressions?

Mine is coupled up and noisy on startup but only for about 30 seconds, exactly as you would expect a viscous clutch fan to do. Admittedly I have not towed in warm weather yet (I only got mine in June) but even dragging my race car up Mount Pretty Sally and working it hard to get and keep speed...

    STX 550 headlights

I Never tried the fatboys but ran up and down the range of the likes of the Phillip + jobs. The high numbers seem to relate to a short life. I settled on the +130 ones too. The problem with the LED and HID conversions is as Tony said, the lamp position and shape does not match that of the...

    throttle problems

Are all of them supposed to be passive regen? I have the 140KW engine and have smelled a regen going on a couple of times. Pretty obvious when you stop soemwhere and it smells like an angle grinder. Regards the temp rise, I wonder about a software issue. Mine has done it a couple of times but...

D40 Speedo and tacho goes backwards after ignition off. Am I the only one? 🤣

In the 550 is it even more obvious, the instruments all move to a parked position on shutdown, all pointed straight down. They stay there until you turn the key on again. It does achieve the same goal of calling the pointer but it is more a fashion item in the 550 being "Parked"

D40 Speedo and tacho goes backwards after ignition off. Am I the only one? 🤣

As far as I know that is pretty normal. They are driven by stepper motors and that is the system finding/confirming the zero position.

    Fault codes and scan gauges

On a related note, does anyone have information on what PIDs you can fish out of the STX-550 OBD port? I am thinking if enough useful information can be pulled out I might make a patch cable and take my race cars data logger for a drive to see what is going on internally. Surely Nissan have...

    Fault codes and scan gauges

To be honest, I don't have much of a problem with the cats, they are a relatively trouble free technology unlike EGR that has a comets tail of stories of woe following it around. I would sort of prefer Adblue to using fuel as the reactant. I was thinking by extra injector pulses you were meaning...

What is similar to an ST-X 550

If I only had the cash, it would drag the race car around like no ones business!

    Fault codes and scan gauges

I don't think they have the extra injector commands in the Aus delivered ones, they don't have a DPF. I will blank the EGR on the car as fault finding to see if that sorts the performance issue (Knowing that it will result in an EGR flow code) If the performance is fixed then I will at least...

    Thrust bearing

The release fork one is easy if it is like the older ones (It is a long, narrow clip, maybe 50mm long) That one has a hooked end which slips into a slot in the clutch fork and then you squeeze the sides together and slip it into the back of the fork and it clips in. then when you push the fork...

    Thrust bearing

Got a picture? If they are like some of the older Nissan boxes I can think of two things they might be (But usually it was one wire clip for each) One was a clip that keeps the clutch fork on the ball it pivots on, the other was a wire clip which keeps the thrust bearing against the end of the...

What is similar to an ST-X 550

I would have to say the same. Funny to write this just as our 550 gives the first trouble of it's life (EGR issues) but the Amarok is about it if you want big torque in a dual cab ute. BUT, those I know who have had VW cars have had so much trouble with them that when out of warranty cost so...

    Fault codes and scan gauges

On a related note for testing. The fault code is quite generic and I think either valve used for EGR could produce the symptoms. That being the actual EGR contol valve tucked up in the valley or the throttle control valve used to produce some manifold vacuum to assist EGR. Does anyone know of a...

    Fault codes and scan gauges

Well, pulled the EGR valves out and cleaned them, no obvious visual faults (Except for the EGR hole in the manifold being choked up to about a third of it's normal size with carbon) Put it all back together and cleared the codes, no codes and normal performance driving it around for about an...

    Fault codes and scan gauges

Actually it won't even be a voltage sent which is even worse, the speedo needle is driven by a stepper motor so it could be made to read exactly what the system is reporting as easily as read high.

    Fault codes and scan gauges

Hopefully just sticky, I will find out this weekend. If so it will get a tune shortly and have the issue fixed up properly at that time. I ended up with the better spec SP tools one, it did the job. I plugged it into my mothers Dualis as well (Which I have serviced for about 5 years) which had...

    Fault codes and scan gauges

Bought a reader, 0488, EGR volume control valve. Hopefully removal and a clean out on the weekend sorts it. The performance is sort of consistent with the valve sticking open. It does not sound as crisp as it used to when the ECU cycles it on shutdown either.
