Almost. Its in Healesville. Yarra Valley. Why do you ask?

    Only have 4th gear.

I havent really got the time/facilities to rebuild it myself. The car is currently at my girlfriends place, which is 120km from home, so i'm limited by that.

You've already had 1 vote! You cant have another. Haha. I know the guy at the local 4wd mechanic, might talk to him and see what he reckons, jus dont want to spend too much on a car that I intend to sell.

everything else is fine mechanically. TD27T Terrano engine with top mount cooler, has plenty of go and drives (or should i say drove! lol) fine

    Only have 4th gear.

I thought that may have been the case. Bit of an unfortunate outcome, but oh well.

    Only have 4th gear.

Hmm. I'd kinda already decided I was going to sell it before this happened. So its probably more down to whether its worth repairing to sell, sell as is, or part it out. Money is tight, and I can't afford to put x amount of money into it unless I get at least the same back out of it in sale...

    Only have 4th gear.

Have just lost all but 4th gear. No warning or anything. Was just driving up to an intersection in 3rd, was a strange noise, kinda like a rapid clunking. When I went to take off again, it made the same sound in 1st. So I stopped and had a look under the car. Couldn't see anything obvious. Went...

    Hot under load

Check the seat under the thermostat where the bypass closes off. They are prone to cavitation in the td27t, which erodes the seat and the thermostat cant close the bypass completely, and coolant will bypass the radiator and not get cooled. The symptoms you decribe are identical to what was...

Good to see its all worked out in the end.

    radiator

Hahaha. Definately get some photos. i'm curious to where it cracked. Was there any corrosion inside the housing?

    radiator

Well i dont think i'll ever pull those bolts again. I replaced my thermostat about 6 months ago, the long bolt was tight, and they are apparently prone to shearing, so i was worried enough with that... Now i'm never going near the thermostat again, if i can help it. Maybe it was a defect in the...

oh no good. i guess i'd better be careful when i check my thermostat next. Didnt realise they cracked so easily. how tight were you doing it up? or did the bolt bind or something?

Have you got that new radiator happening yet?

    radiator

All i have to go on are photos of them for sale on ebay. The ones specified for autos clearly have two brass connection points for a trans cooler on the bottom tank, whereas the manual ones dont. Also be wary of parts listings in stores like super cheap, i have found incorrect parts specified...

    radiator

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "They use the oil cooler but no tranny cooler" There would be a trans cooler built into the radiator for the auto models, (although a separate aftermarket cooler would be a better option) The oil cooler in the td27 is behind a cover on the side of block...

    radiator

If you are having trouble finding one, try ebay. I bought one for my td27 on there. Search "d21 diesel radiator" theres 20 or so of them for sale.

the radiators are the same for navara/pathfinder/terrano. the diesel engine radiator is different to the petrol one though.

question thats been bugging me . . .

The unit on the back of the alternator is the vacuum pump for the brake booster (and also various pollution gear) the high pressure oil line feeding it, is there to lubricate the pump and prevent it from seizing, and and the drain line returns the oil to the sump, along with a small amount of...
