You are a bank of D40 knowledge Tony. Always can rely on you to give some good advice to help direct my ignorance.

Flashing ATP & 4WD Mode lights

Couple of afterthoughts Tony. What is the TCC? Coolant temp below 105C - is that engine or transmission? DO you have a thermometer readout in the cabin? Did you change your engine radiator also? Pls excuse all the extra questions!

Flashing ATP & 4WD Mode lights

Very much appreciate your advice Tony. I really like driving my D40 and I suspect you are spot on - the only missing link was that I did not get any "AT OIL TEMP" light that I recall. Though I guess this could also have come on as things were happening fast at the time. I will definitely take it...

Flashing ATP & 4WD Mode lights

On a recent trip towing the caravan I suddenly lost drive power (like engine revving and not connected to the transmission) and the ATP & 4WD Mode Indicator lights began to flash. I pulled over and let everything cool down for about half an hour. Restarted ok, drove another hour into Longreach...

    D40 Servicing Gold Coast

Can anyone recommend a reliable, competent and reasonable charging (not like a bull!) D40 mechanic/workshop on the southern Gold Coast. Am over being overcharged and under-serviced by dealer service department. Have had the vehicle since new (2010) and log book serviced by dealership. Many...

BFG All Terrain KO replacement tyres

Was ultra-confused deciding on which tyres to replace OEM Goodyear Wranglers with. Doing the Big Lap towing camper/trailer for 12 months so have decided to shell out the extra $$$ and go with the BFG All Terrains 265/70/17 (originals 255/65/17). BFGs seem to have the consistently best reports...

BFG All Terrain KO replacement tyres

miner-matt, after how many kms do you rotate your BFGs and do you rotate left back to left front & right back to right front or do you cross-rotate ie. LB to FR & RB to LF ?

BFG All Terrain KO replacement tyres

AF do you deflate to around 25 psi on unsealed dirt roads and what sort of kms do you get out of a set of BFGs?

BFG All Terrain KO replacement tyres

Many thanks for the replies Aussie Frontier & miner-matt. I presume your original tyres were 255x65x17 also. What tyre pressures do you run on blacktop and on unsealed dirt roads?

BFG All Terrain KO replacement tyres

Going the Big Lap in my 2010 Spanish build D40 for 12 months leaving early May. Replacing OEM Goodyear Wranglers 255 x 65 x 17 with BFG A/T 265x 70 x 17. Suspension has been upgraded with 2in lift. Any known problems I should be aware of with using bigger tyre (dealer assures me the speedo...

    High dealer servicing charges

Many thanks for the good advice guys. I guess I found it hard to imagine how a relatively new Navvy would need over $900 of servicing so soon. Anyway I will shop around as I am sure I will be able to find a good diesel mechanic who, I hope, will be able to do the same job for a lot less than the...

    High dealer servicing charges

My D40 (Spanish build 09/2010) is still under warranty until 24Mar2014. I have been having the dealer service the vehicle every six months or thereabouts and costs for these servicings have been tolerable. However for the last servicing I was told it was due for a 2 year/40000km major service...

How have you found the underbody protection? Can you do an oil change without unbolting plates? Does it all get very hot?
