Good point Kitch, I guess it's like asking how long is a piece of string.

How to get your mods legal

I shouldn't have mentioned the tyres size at all, as that is not the information I am after. What I need is someone who has done ANY modification to their vehicle which required a engineering certificate in NSW. I want to know to what extent they went to to make sure their insurance company...

How to get your mods legal

Does anybody know if it is enough just to get the engineering certificate, or do you have to go through all the steps mentioned? In the event of a major accident, if questioned and I produce the certificate, am I all clear?

How to get your mods legal

I want bigger tyres and I want it to be legal. I thought it was a pretty simple process, but apparently not.. these are the steps involved AFAIK. The aim to NOT have an insurance claim rejected. 1. Get engineering certificate. Can be expensive if your speedo is out. 2. Get a blue slip (for a...

    Bullbars compatible with D40

I have the smart bar fitted. It's light, can have a winch and lights fitted, and doesn't rust. No matter which brand you choose, you will see some body panels getting the chop.

    New Modification laws in NSW

I understand the law will only apply to vehicles after 1 Aug, so suspension lifts done before will be exempt. The total allowed lift is 50mm, including bigger tyres. If you have a 50mm lift and currently have bigger tyres that puts you over. How will they police when I bought the tyres? They...

Strut spacers with 2 inch lift

I currently have a 2 inch Iron Man suspension kit and was considering putting in 35mm strut spacers on the front. Does anybody have any experience with a similar setup? I know you have to move the bump stops Is there anything else to consider? Will it put too much strain on other components?

    Free Lavazza Coffee Machine

If you work in an office where people drink coffee, but don't like paying up to $4 per cup, and still want REAL coffee, I have the solution. We give you a free coffee machine (valued at well over 2K) and you agree to buy 200 "pods" per month at $1 per pod. There is NO contract, you can quit...

    electronic locking differential

It appears that in the US, the D40 comes with a electronic locking differential. Has anyone investigated this diff lock option? Is it viable to import and fit to our poorly equipped Aussie version?

    D40 sidesteps

I was wondering what other owners think of their side steps. Last weekend at the Watagans they managed to carry about 5cm of mud along the whole length and stop me from cresting a hill because they bottomed out. On the other hand, I would rather damage the side steps than the sills and I...

2007 VE SS V Commodore - it's my wife's "run around rocket". funnily enough the fuel consumption for a 6L V8 is roughly the same as the D40 4L V6.

breathers - diffs, gearbox, transfer case.

Having been stuck for extended periods in deep puddles I am thinking about breathers for: * Diffs * gear box * transfer case What would people recommend? Is it overkill to do all 4? I believe I read somewhere on the forum that the D40 already comes with one diff breather, is this correct? Thanks.

    Brake problems with D40

spare rotors and pads I wasn't aware of some of the issues the D40's have with the brakes when I swapped over to DB rotors and Bendix pads. I did so because I was going on a 4 week outback trip and I was going to be fully laden so I just figured that it might be a good idea to upgrade the...

    tyre size advice needed

Hello all, I have had the Navara D40 since Nov 2007, it's an auto V6. It has a 2" lift from Iron Man and I had the dealer put on Pirelli Scorpion ATR's (265/70/16) - that is the largest they would put on.... I also have a bullbar and a TJM FUG (after reading many horror stories) I am getting...
