    2012 Spanish YD25 died

New low km engine is in and I will get the car back in a day or two. I'll get the dead engine in about a week and have a closer look at what went wrong. Edit: got it back, everything is good including the new Exedy clutch with solid flywheel. There's significant low frequency vibration when...

    2012 Spanish YD25 died

I've spoken to a few people who have got to 500,000km with their VSK D40s with no trouble. My car was bought new by me and looked after with scrupulous attention to servicing and maintenance but unfortunately it developed an issue that wasn't and probably couldn't be detected during normal...

    2012 Spanish YD25 died

Maybe...! It depends which Hilux though. I'm currently driving a borrowed 2002 Hilux with the excellent :sarcastic: 3 litre diesel. As they say, always late with a 2.8, but it's still too slow with the 3.0. I can live with it though, it does still run, unlike my Navara.

    2012 Spanish YD25 died

I'm not sure either, but that's what I've been told. I've now spoken to three mechanics who say it's probably the injectors but were very vague about how they would cause such a failure. The cause of the fault is most unlikely to be the injectors themselves though, as all cylinders were...

Thanks, I posted in the engine & drivetrain forum with more details, but basically it lost compression on all 4, pistons overheated and also all pistons lightly touched the valves. Have been told it's likely caused by an injector issue but really not sure.

    2012 Spanish YD25 died

My 2012 VSK YD25 let go completely at 360,000km. No definite cause but it has no compression on any cylinder. Suspicion is that camchain wear allowed the pistons to lightly touch the valves, although it also looks as if the pistons have got very hot on the exhaust side. I'm not sure if that's...

I bought my D40 new in 2012 and as a measure of its reliability, I have never looked for any technical info on the internet until a few weeks ago. Disastrous engine failure sent me on the inevitable searches for info though, and this forum seemed to be the best, so here I am.
