Don't Know about unlucky. The timing chain is definately noisy on the common rail model. Nissan's answer to me was that its acceptable for the chain to be that noisy and shouldn't have a problem as the engine is a little under power as compared to the D40 where they are experiencing problems...

Sounds like problem with brake booster. Start engine ,disconnect hose from booster and check vacum. If you feel nothing at the hose check the hose running to the back of alternator for any leaks. If still no good problem must be in the pump mounted to back of alternator .

I see alot of them blowing black smoke on take off. Mine was blowing heaps of smoke with the chip on . I Did the Egr mod and i'd say i have lost 90 percent of the smoke
