    Trustworthy mechanics.

If not too far from you try Enzos Mechanical and Exhaust at Mt Druitt. He's a 4wd'er himself and and worked on my nav a few times at a fraction of the cost of other quotes. (02) 9625 2226. I'm near Castle Hill too and find it's well worth the drive.

    4WD engage issues

Could be the computer under the dash board too. You won't know until it's all tested.

    Weird D40 engine noise

Any mechanic can do it. Just shop around for one you are happy with. If Nissan quote too much for a chain give Adam a call and find out where he buys his.

    Weird D40 engine noise

I haven't had an official quote but Adam from Nissan4x4 wreckers in Victoria told me he does timing chains all the time and costs him about $200 for parts and about 5 hours labour. He said the tell tale sign for timing chain failure before looking at the chain is to remove the sump and look for...

    Dead Navara

The peoblem with Nissan Dealer Mechanics is they charge $120 per hour just to look at your car. My Mechanic charges $77 an hour and starts his investigations off with the cheapest parts. On top of that Nissan will charge exorbitant prices for parts that are available aftermarket For example...

    Dead Navara

My problem turned out to be the turbo slowly dying. There were leaks out of it everywhere when the mechanic removed it. $2550 for a new turbo + labour. Running like a dream now.

    4wd Action comp

Got this in an e-mail from 4wd Action magazine. Thought there might be a few in here interested. Shame my rig isn't decked out or I'd have a go myself. In less than a month’s time, [4wd Action] will be running the trip of a lifetime, and I want you to come! We’re looking for seven of...

    Clogged Catalytic Converter

Just going off what the mechanic said and he "thinks" something inside has given way. There is carbon build up around the inlet seals and when he removed the airbox he could feel pressure blowing back when I reved and let the throttle back off. Aside from the cat' converter the problem...

    Clogged Catalytic Converter

What about the cat in the D40 diesel 2006/7? Can that be replaced with a cheap aftermarket one. Reason I ask is my turbo is blowing back through the intake and without taking it apart yet the mechanic suggests this could be caused by the cat being clogged causing too much back pressure. So...

    Career Change

RailCorp has heaps of jobs for electricians. You might have to start in Sydney but don't forget Newcastle has electric trains, and Broadmedow has a maintenance centre. Some of the options for RailCorp are overhead linesmen, signal electricians, train maintenance, communications, even...

    D40 Front Lokka

Sweet so now that lokka is available all we need is an engineer to design and build us some free wheeling hubs at a reasonable price. There would have to be a good market for it cause it would save everyone a stack of fuel. I'm surprised there's no manual option out there.

    D40 Front Lokka

If the hubs are unlocked and the 2wd engaged then the diff is not turning so why would it be any different on the bitumen than it is now? Lokka in the front and ARB in the rear, best of both worlds. Only problem will be negotiating mega tight turns whilst offroad, which is where it will click...
