Howdy, sooo I thought I'd give the Nav what she should've had from the start! A big nose job...

Plus years of social abuse at Club 54 had finally taken its toll ;)

Ok, Mr Bodyworks in Australia, extreemly nice people and great service, highly recommended.

The product, hmmm pricey, for what it is- I think. $175 ..
Material is ABS, and too light walled for my liking "a little thin", I would highly suggest painting this product anything but black ;')
but it is what it is, a bonnet scoop and better than what she had..

If you search old posts you'll find the original photos of the seal job I did under the bonet..

With this new snorter being bigger, I had the chance to service the rubber that seals bonnet to cooler- this had become hard from laying up against the intercooler for the past 60'000k's .. did its job though!

Now looking for rubber to replace the old, I stumbled onto the "silicone matting"! Perfect I thought buttttt- "bring your check book and first born$$$" ..
Now whilst looking for silicone sheets I stumbled on silicone foam sheets, better for my use, still pricey!

Ok, silicone foam rubbers are not rubber i find out! Pure chemical structure "if that's the right terminology"..

Now searching silicone foam rubbers- i find those foam mats you get for camping etc that lock together for $10 a pack at bunnings and superbleep, are this type of chemical foam "rubber".. ok, more reaserch on the EVA they are made from and I find out, It's an insulation, Self extinguishing/fire proof, heat- cold- fuel resistant and flexible. Great, and cheap lol
A little thick, but Bunnings do have these solid "no holes" mats that are blue in colour and about 10mm thick but are a little too firm...

Then I find EVA's little brother - NBR, basically the same deal, fire proof, insulating etc but softer again and more flexible "I guess EVA little sister ;)" .. nice, and thinner- 8mm to10mm ish is easy to find ..

Try $8 for a roll from Kmart lol nice...
Now the story of EVA and NBR is a little shocking- EVA has it SPECIAL USE, and WRONGLY found its way into the fitness world as flooring and YOGA mats.. well, EVA is a carcinogenic and now combine that with body sweat and rolling around on yoga mats they where killing themselves!
True story, and that how E.V.A's little sister came to be! Mommy and daddy scientists had a new child ;) that wouldn't kill you getting fit ...

So this is what I used and are trying out on sealing up the new snozzle job.. Thank you Kmart ;)

THIS is my new fav tool box must have!
This NBR foam is resilient to most hardware silicones in tubes- would you believe, derrrr I guess if it can take diesel, petrol, paints etc that's a given huh
There's a lot of blunt tools in my shed gents... moving onnnnnn,

But this stuff, my lordy, thats some sticky poo indeed... loves the NBR so far!

Works fine too, first test run of 50ks and you could hold your hand on exit side of the intercooler but not the intake by golly gee gosh dang it. Like I said, big shed blunt tools;) twas red hot!
I'll get some temps now I've got the temp gun ..

I managed to wrap the inlet hard pipe from turbo to cooler also, it may make a difference? The way i look at it is, it is better than before..

So there you go, nose job for the ZD...

With the bonnet insulation failing in spots and wanting to cover and protect what's left, I used the foam rubber to over the top.
I'll finish off the edges with more adhesive once this dries..

I was thinking of removing the old insulation completely and replacing with the foam rubber... still may if this doesn't hold to the old insulation..
The only down side/problem is that this foam rubber is soft and doesn't take abuse at all..
May be for the bonnet you could use the heavier foam rubber..
Time will tell I guess!20200927_121934.jpg
