Spanish build 2012 door handle mechnism.

Hi trying to fix the outer door handle that wont open, I realise the fault is the ball has slippeded out of the slot and that the plastic keeper has broken but I cant pull the handle down from the inside of the door to repair. I have the door panel off and have the dooor handle off but cant drop it down past the window frame to repair. Is there a trick to this?
