Hey guy's,

I've just done an oil change on my Spanish 2008 D40 Turbo Diesel and I've put too much oil in it (7.9 liters total). Is it OK to run it with that amount? or should I drain a bit out? Also, the high and low levels marks on the dipstick are the two drill holes, right?

Thanks in advance

David

That's considerably more oil than it should have (5.1 litres with an oil filter change). The engine needs oil to return from the turbocharger freely (there's a gravity feed under the turbo, about 20mm in diameter). If it's overfilled this might be impeded and the turbocharger may start ejecting oil into the turbine area (blue smoke).

Yes, the drilled holes represent the upper and lower level limits.
