I'm 76 and I'm Tired"

Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some some serious health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who
don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take
the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy
to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I
can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and
daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight
offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't
"believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let
Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques
and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand ,
UK, America, Canada , and Europe while no one from these countries are
allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global
warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help
support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ
rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses
or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all
parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful
mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting
caught.

I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and
actions.

I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's be-deck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 76.. Because, mostly, I'm not
going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for
my granddaughter and her children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on the way in.

Ain't that the !@#$%^& thruth.

I was only thinking the other day.

Where is the insentive to work hard anymore ?

Work hard, you get taxed something fierce to fund some useless asshole who wont work.

Apparently being a alcoholic entitles you to a "Disability Pension" these days.

What a load of shit.

Look at the !@#$wit Greens for example.

and the moronic dweebs that got them in.......

this country is in the mess its in cause of these fn numbnuts

the country would be in better shape if run by H.B.Bear.

I work hard and I'm young and I have tattoos but I don't do drugs and I don't like clubs I wish we had places I could go listen to country music in a bar but it's not around here. I like camping but some times it feels like I work and work with not much return and assholes steal my stuff i work for . I agree when people say they can't work it's bullshit everyone can do something it's just lazy people in our days with there big loans they can't pay back . Everyone wants everything now it's why the world is in debt no one lives with in there means anymore ..
And to all the people who look down on me for driving my 2004 d22 it's what I could afford at the time and it's paid off so I don't care if u have a ve ss with flash wheels on it most of u have big loans and are tryin to keep up the joanes as they say .
I haven't been threw what u have but as a youngster I can see where u are coming from.

I'm not bothered that my taxes are going to support others out of work, or drug addicts, or the mentally disabled, or the physically disabled, or victims of physical abuse, or the police that patrol our streets, or the fire control to ensure my house doesn't burn, or the park management so I can go 4x4 on the weekend. Our money doesn't go to waste, and it's only a small percentage that actually goes to drop kicks. And the truth is, at one point or another, we're going to out of work (where we need that government support to make sure our bills are paid), or we cop an injury and we need financial, medical and physical support. Our money isn't thrown away (well it never used to, although I can't say much about Rudd and Gillard the past few years!).

I understand entirely that it sucks to be taxed so high, pay so much to live, and at the end of the day, when we get home and try to take a load off, we see our money being thrown at people who appear to be doing nothing, but, essentially, it's only a small percentage that are in that group. Most unemployed people don't actually want to be unemployed, it's simply their skills are not able to compete with the standards.

This. I'm proud to own my d21 and know that it's paid off in full, it runs tough and hard, and is just as reliable as most of the other crap out on the road. I cannot afford anything more, so despite people giving me crap about owning an old car, I don't care. I don't have a debt.

G,day Tatty,

I am proud of you mate, words well said!

PS, I would rather happiness to debt; I would rather be physically healthy, than being wealthy!

Nope, not automatically. If you search around on the Centrelink site, somewhere you will find the assessment tables that they use to rate "disability". You have to have some serious damage to qualify. Damage that is certified by a number of medical specialists.

They also reassess every two years in case you've "recovered".

Nothing makes <some> Centrelink staff happy as making a "self inflicted" person jump rope.

Do you go looking for my posts to pick at these days ?

Oh and do you work for Centrelink ?

I have worked hard since I was 14, I still continue to work hard at 20, yet over the past 6 months I have been stooged with work. I have been laid off and rehired under a different contract the next day, I have had to swap labourhire companys to keep employment and now it looks like I will have to again for a major pay decrease if I wish to keep working for the company that I did my traineeship with. I keep a good maner about it as I still have a job and a way to feed myself, but I am not sure if I want to keep working for this company if they pay me peanuts. I have saved to buy my '98 D22, I have saved to travel several countries, and I will keep saving until I can buy a house.

Now I am considering leaving and going to TAFE to study a Diploma in I.T. Afterwards I will work hard to find a place of employment in the I.T. field even if that means Tech Support. You need to start somewhere which is what a lot of people in my generation do not understand. I find a lot of my generation to find work "too hard" or "too boring" and resort back to Centrelink, not thinking about their future such as superannuation or retirement.

I will be glad when I am studying to have such support as Centrelink to allow myself to live, even if it is only $240 a fortnight. I will be gladder to be working as soon as I can after finishing study.

Perhaps it is just your choice of quoted subject matter. Nothing personal, but you keep posting some absolute rubbish. Some real Neanderthal chest beater stuff. It just doesn't enthuse me to put any effort into replying, even to post this http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bill-cosby-damn-tired.shtml

Which makes it doubly funny. I wouldn't have thought either "worked hard" in the traditional sense.

Trust me, you don't want to know how I know this.

Oh knowledgeable one.

Do give us some insight please. You seem to know it all.

Help me, to be a "New Age" hippy kinda guy like yourself, who wants to spread love and peace.

Oh and if you dont agree with me on Imigrants. Open up your house and town to them, see how you feel in a week.

Are you pissed because of my hatred of the Labor party, Greens etc ?

So I am guessing your a alcoholic going by your last sentence.

Make it personal, I will do the same.

Dont be dick.

if you want "touchy feely" your on the wrong forum....after all this is a predominantly 4x4 forum and if most of us knuckledraggers are below you level of gayness, then go forth and start a likeminded "touchyfeelyforum.com.au"

It just doesn't enthuse me to put any effort into replying, even to post this http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bill-cosby-damn-tired.shtml

then dont answer
