Hi new so trying to get all info before go out spend a load of cash

was reading the specs on my navara and it says it has free wheeling hubs auto- locking.
does this mean when i am on road 2 wheel drive and when i go off road it locks the hubs in so all 4 wheel turn together is it the differential in the transfer case that locks in together, dont know if i am confusing myself here.

god the stress trying to understand

Ok basically your hubs are always locked in so you front diff and drive sharft from the transfer is always spinning.

Where as in my d22 i have manual hubs meaning i have to get out and lock them in, and my front drive train just sits there while they are unlocked.

i means i have to get out and lock my hubs in to go 4x4ing and you dont!!

There are no auto-locking hubs as far as I'm aware.

If you're talking D22, you get out and do it manually just like a TOYota.

If you're talking D40, the hubs are permanently engaged - the front diff turns over all the time. It's part of the reason why the D40 uses a little more fuel than the D22.
