Hi Guys
I have just picked up a D21 with a Ka24e to put into my Z24 powered D21.
The Ka24e has 280k on the clock is running great in the donor vehicle and doesn't appear to have any leaks.

What i need to know is what the life expectation of a Ka24e before you have to rebuild it and also what are the most common faults with this motor.

Thx

They're pretty solid from what I hear. I've had mine in for almost 4 years now, a few less ks than yours, but haven't had to do anything to it. I'm not aware of any common faults

The ka in mine has done 315000 k's (all hard ones too)
the only common fault I know of is the timing chain tensioners
can wear out early.
Mines getting a bit rattly at the moment but still runs fine
,goes okay and only uses a little bit of oil.

Thx Guys that good to hear, saves me having to rebuild it now.
I might put a new chain and tensioner in it then.

Can you tell me , do you have to remove the timing chain to do a water pump ?

Can't say for certain as I haven't had to open it.
But I'd be inclined to do it just for safety sake.

The water pump sits on the front of the engine, with the fan attached to it. No need to remove or go anywhere near the timing chain to change the pump.
