Hey guys,
Just trying to get to the bottom of something - as you may tell I am not really mechanically inclined :victory:
When I slow down & stop in traffic or at traffic lights I notice a light thud coming from under the ute towards the back. Can anyone tell me what this is? I am hoping this is normal! :dong:

Thanks for reading
Robbie

Its not the spare tyre hanger is it?

Don't stress, I've asked plenty of stupid questions in my time mate, and I'm not done yet lol.

Thanks but there will be plenty more where that came from, you will be sick of me in no time
I think you are right on the spare wheel. Thanks for your help!
Robbie

As far as i know it's that brake load thing on the back axle, has a spring on it.It adjusts your rear brakes to work harder when you have a heavy load in the tub.

Yeah thats what I was getting at Ian, the Load Sensing Valve.

I had a lift done and I was getting a slight thud in the back until I readjusted it.

As far as I know it is standard. The only modifications in the back are just a tray liner & sport bars which shouldn't effect it too much?
Is the load sensor easy to adjust or is it best to take it to a specialist? As I said I am not experienced mechanically but I am always happy to learn something new about the ute :)

I have a placard inside the passenger door, that shows how to adjust the L.S.V.

Mine has done it standard and with lift,i beleive there is a thread here somewhere that explains how to adjust it.
Be aware that you stuff around with brakes at your own peril.
They are set up that way for a reason,be it good or bad.

Thanks Jason, I will have a crack at it on Saturday & let you know how I get on.
I am really loving this forum, I only wish I found it sooner. I am learning so much about my navara that I didn't know :)

That's the good thing about this forum,
If you've got a problem with your Nav, odds on someone else on here has had the same problems and are more than happy to help out.

Ive picked up so much just reading through old topics and posts.

"Hopefully not too much of a stupid question"
Robbie, my old boss used to say, "Better to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake".
I fitted my own TJM steel bar & didn't ask anyone if they had done it before.
I cut the bumper wrong - STUPID mistake. Guess who will ask next time.
Cheers,
Phil

I have the exact same problem ... have no idea what it is but is certainly a thud that I notice a low speeds usually while reversing or slowing down. Continually gives me a fright thinking I've hit something.

I'll be raising it with Nissan at the next service (20K).
