Hey guys my old xe falcon has a stripped thread in the sump, so i am trying to decide on weather to tap a new thread (oversize plug) or helicoil it ? any suggestions?

I'd just tap it out bigger. Helicoils are too expensive for a one off.
Trade it in for something with some more power, like something from the Autobianchi stable?
Okay, okay, just pokin' fun at the expense of the non-Nissan vehicle on the Navara forum.
I'd agree with the bigger tap, too, although that's going to confuse any factory Ford mechanic who will look in his book and pull out "Tool #14723 - Sump Plug Removal Spanner" and it won't fit. You might want to hang around with a camera.

yeah i think bigger might be the go, although by the time i buy a specific drill bit and tap i might as well go the helicoil? will have to hit up the bolt master man and see what prices he gives me
