hey guys
hav you heard of any one changing there leafs in the back to coils springs but keeping the same diff n not going a patrol one?:cheers!:

Go to the R50 Pathfinder rear diff if your going to the effort as they are coil and the diff was used in V6 Navara's (H233B).

As far as I know there has never been a coil C200 made by Nissan so will require more engineering.

Dave.

havent seen one. your biggest problem will be the fuel tank. from memory it will be in the way for almost any linked set up that would be worth the effort. other then that, easy. you can buy all the mounts you need and just weld em on.

Me.

You can't keep the same diff. Nissan did make a C200 coil axle assembly but only in Japan and they never come over here in imports for some reason. You can put a D21/R50 Pathfinder rear coil assembly in but I'm also fitting the Pathfinder rear fuel tank so I can avoid the fuel tank issues. As Dave said you have to go to the Pathfinder diff but there's no problem with that. Same width and everything.

no reason you cant keep the same diff? just depends how much fabricating you want to do.

well yea no reason you cant use all factory components but there will always be brackets and mounts that need fabricating or bought and welded on.

sweet thanks guys for the replies
also i was thinking of mabe going a coil over leaf setup so take out all the leafs except for one or two to keep the diff lined up then just weld support on to the chassis for the coil and also mod the leaf to fit the coil? wat do you think? plus i heard that u can get some leafs that are built to flex but not so much to carry weight?:cheers!:

I was told once that Ford Telstar coil springs are good for this mod, their shape is ideal for the application and it's easy to make mounts or something. Second hand information, never seen such a mod myself.

Leaves are flexible and simple. You can have custom leaves made exactly how you want them, progressive spring rate, longer with a greater curve for a higher ride height without a higher spring rate, etc. Talk to a workshop that specialises in leaf suspension.

i reckon thatd be more work geting it to work how you want than itd be worth... leaf or coil or coilover all work well and all have there positives and negatives. Leafs are simple, dont try and complicate them or you lose any advantage. Research what the hilux boys do and copy that over to the rear. otherwise id just go coil rear, buy all the mounts and weld em on, use standard arm lengths where you can.

if your thinking about going a leaf coil set up.
check out the add a coil kit. they are fairly cheap and you can lighten your spring pack and still have good load carry abilities

sweet thanxs for the help. also joshy how hard was it make the four link setup for urs? because i m not that good at stick plus how hard wass it to find the coil mounts stuf for urs?:cheers!:

4 link in the rear was easy as. had it all ground back and tacked in place in 2 days. but i didnt use coils.. places like locktup sell coilmounts tho off the top of my head.

sweet thanxs for the help. just another question wat did u do for a fuell tank?i got a mate that makes fuel tanks n i was thinking about moving the spare tyre n just making a single drop tank were the wheel would be or would the link arms hit the tank?:cheers!:

yea you might be able to put it where the spare tyre goes, depends on size and shape i guess. mines going above the chassis rails.
depends what link set up you go. prob best to take some measurements and get some designs and work it out but its doable. Just cant give you a diffinitive answer to a broad question

nah thats cool thanks for a reply i will hav to look into it i might hav to start looking for a half cut pathfinder.:thank_you2:

Hey hellhound, just thinking if you remove most of the leaves, the remaining leaf wont be able to sufficiently control axles wrap, and posibly location. you could fit a wrap bar to fix the wrap, but you still may struggle with keeping it located without links or suffiecient springs.

you could take all but the main leaves out, use them as locaters, then put coils in to take the load, youll need a wrap bar still tho, but thats easy.

Hi Dave, I know this thread is a few months old now, but if my D21 already has a H233B diff, then it shouldn't be too much a job, fuel tank aside?

C200 or H233B either way will require coil mounts and a panhard rod and trailing arms installed.

Hit Josh up for spec on trailing arms etc.

Dave.
