Never heard of it done but personally Id go a 4BTA Cummins.

Plenty of Americans have pulled the 6.5L Chev out of H1 Hummers and gone the 4BT as its a better motor.

Dave.

I would think you would have to lengthen the chassie rails and the front quaters to be able to fit something that size in.

I have just put a gen3 in mine.Measure up the difference in size.If the dimensions are the same it will fit.If it is any bigger you have buckleys

I was originally going to import a nissan titan for the running gear but still would have had the problem of big conversion and problem with parts. If australia brought 1 out I would have bought 1 for sure but my D22 has 300 at the rear so that is enough.Bosshog I can put you ono the bloke that did mine but you are looking at about $20,000 to do it but well worth it.

I'll fit you one for $19.990K, I'll even throw in a tank of fuel.

There is another forum that I am on (mudrhino) with a GU cut into a twincab that looks sweet for sale $28000 off the top of my head. I would post a link but I believe you have to be a member to see any of the posts.

Hi there just wondering if any one has put a v8 chev Diesel into a navara d22 cheers.

The 6.6L Duramax is a much newer motor, It'd be worth looking into... The Americans are putting out over 1000hp reliably from these

Dave

^ My thoughts exactly, the 6.5 and 6.2 are the last motors I would use.

Dave.

Wouldnt even dream of putting such a large torquey engine into a Navara....., driveline simply would not handle it....thats if you could get it to fit!!
6.6L Duramax is a major headache operation to fit into a Patrol, let alone a Navara

Best of sticking to smaller petrol V8s for power upgrades

LOL, ROFL + PMSL

I was wondering what the growl was when i went 4x4'ing with scotty - it musthave been my tummy and not his nav after all.

Pity the video's we took that day made the sound come from the NAV instead of from me ... so i cant figure it out ... i'm just confused now ...

But i must say - a high powered D22 sure knows how to get well stuck into mud holes.

Glad there was a D40 to get him out of trouble. :wash_truck:

:cheers!::cheers!::cheers!:

Its alright Woody I won't tell everyone that you neally ended up in a ditch in my street b4 you even got to my place:ha: Oh and I almost forgot that you had to put your D40 into 4wd just to get out of my asphalt driveway.:sarcastic::bootyshake:

Dave

All that power in the D40 and you needed low range for a asphalt driveway.

Get a 22 Woody.

Dave.

What about a VQ45 V8? Keep it in the family.... you can pick up a whole front cut for $1000-$2000

That would be either the VH45DE or the VK45DE and I think there is a VK45DD aswell.

Wish Nissan did a V8 diesel.

Dave

I have a feeling UD made one.

From memory Mitsubishi make a V12 2 stroke diesel they use in the Japanese Tanks.

A mate of mine just finished putting a 6.5 turbo chev in his gu and it only just fits in between the shock towers

Now he will want it to a light engine because it won't get engineered if there is to much weight over the front axles and hope it doesn't exceed the GVM of the vehicle.Patrols and land cruisers by the time you fit bullbars steel rear bars and the like are over their GVM anyway.

woodynads

Nah they arent much heavier than the OEM diesels engines they are replacing......pity they are old school slugs. Brunswick Diesels over here in WA are pumping out converted Landcruisers and Patrols, all engineered etc

you have mentioned you placed a Gen 3 in your nav. What year was the car and what engine?? I am looking for engine match ups for a td27t auto box with not much luck..

Here's his thread. (http://www.navara.asia/members-rides/3340-nissan-navara-d22-v8.html)

Plenty of pics and info, well worth the read.

I've been in it for a ride, that was something special!

Use a Patrol gearbox if you wanna keep a Nissan gearbox behind a V8.
