Hi Guys,

thought i would share with you my trip to the glass house yesterday
(21/11/10), so i brought the dirty weekends mag the other week, so i thought i would take the family out for a run and a bit of lunch, we followed the the track as was in the book and stoped over for lunch along the way everything was going to plan a the kids loved it so on the way back clever me i thought lets just run down the track for a quick look..... BIG MISTAKE, should have stuck to the designated trip! Now i know that if your going to go 4wding you should always go with another vehicle, but i did'nt so anyway were are following this track for a bit and was all good untill i hit some mud (see pic), i got out looked at it and checked deptp etc, and proceeded through.... lossed traction so i got out and grabed the maxtrax and got out with ease, continued a bit futher and bang, as i was tring to get onto the highside (tyres are full of mud) i slid into a rut and could not get out i tried everthing but the biggest problem was that the right hand side of the 4b was cms off a bank so i could not get under the rear of the drivers side tire to put the maxtrax under and revese out as that was the only option, could'nt even open the door at this point my missus is not happy with me, i had to climb in and out the window so as you can imagine mud was although the car on the door trim, gear stick steering wheel etc, to cut to the chase 4 bike riders came along and one of them went and got a 4b to snatch me out.

So from now on i will not be doing somthing stupid like going down a track that i am not sure about again by my self, no one to blame but my own stupidity, thank god some one came through that track at that time, anyway here a couple of pics, i don't have any pics of drama as i was to busy tring to
get out

Apart from being the dog box for a day or two, no harm was done and you got some great pics!!

Good pics mate.

Could happen to anyone, theres a little boy in all of of us who just wants to explore.

Dave.

Excellent pics, I'm dying to get back there for another run as well. Preferably when it is dry! I don't mind doing some exploring by myself, as long as its dry and theres no chance of getting stuck.

What camera are you using, that wallaby photo is picture perfect!

#1 Never go by yourself :)
#2 Dont goto Glass house without M/T (Especially without a winch)
#3 Awesome Camera!
#4 Nice Nav!

dont feel too bad mate, i made a worse mistake yesterday deciding to go through a deep bog hole to get around the back of my mates rodeo that was stuck. luckily some other 4x4's came along to help us out. heres the pics

Mate that does not look good, makes me feel a bit better lol,

LOL, that is one serious hole.

I've gotta tell ya, if I went charging into a hole like that and flooded the Nav, I might as well not go home. Mrs Ray has claimed our Nav as "hers", so that type of shenanigans is out!:sarcastic:
The small scrape/ding I put in the rear panel on our last outing to Glasshouse still has to be fixed.

And the big thing is, as much as we like to think so, these things aren't tractors and can get bogged pretty easily. Unless of course your name is Scott and you have chunky muddies with a screaming GEN III V8 powering it. Have a look here for an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OarEMcZc1Us

I remember a few years back Mothy on here's brother was flying through the bush in his 60 Series Landcruiser and hit a mud hole like that.

I think I pulled him out, anyway after we got it back I had to drive back to Raymond Terrace and pick up a air filter as the one in it was water logged.

Dave.

i was out at wombat state forrest (west) when we came accross our dillema. plenty of great tracks out there though

It's funny how WaGs don't see the funny side to such adventures. I mean, how else are you supposed to know your limitations unless you find them staring back at you in a rutt or puddle.
Good opportunity to get Santa to bring you a winch for Christmas though. No more getting stuck then!
