Wouldnt new be no previous owners and not a demonstrator?

It depends who you talk to, many insurance companies and banks will insure/fund a car under 100ks as new providing you're the first owner, over 100ks and they want to call it a demo even if it wasn't registered.
As far as how many ks upon delivery that will vary greatly depending on where the dealer has to take it to get things done, some get things done on site, some have to drive the car to other places. I've never had a car arrive with over 50ks on it and if it did I'd be asking for a discount.

Having sold new cars for seven years this was often a drama, sometimes after a few test drives a car would have 200+ kms and then customers would want to know why, also build date is a big issue as often it and compliance date are very different.
It is an issue if vehicle is built in previous year and has had upgrade which can affect value later on.
