hey brisbanite, have you ever tried the king bore track? it is near the red canyon. It is a one way only track coming from rainbow bay end. But it is a much quicker route than freshwater and easier on the car, it is a challenge to get up it from DI nice big climb to the top with soft sand, haven't tried it in the navara yet so hopefully will give it a shot next weekend should be a good challenge for it.
Wasnt aware there was a track there, let me know how you go! It was my first time at DI, I remember passing Red Canyon on the way to freshwater. Will have to have a look next time I am there.
