If it affects you the letter will have a second page that has your VIN and details on it. They are also listed on the bottom of it so maybe the original poster has covered that bit up for privacy. Out of interest how would you repair chassis cracks? I would have thought that's pretty serious...

Havent actually bought one yet and if thats the case well there you go. Coming from a Falcon background I havent had to deal with too many recalls but I guess every car is different.

I got a letter today but since I sold my D40 about 2 weeks ago now I am not too worried. Just forwarded it on to the new owner. I must say I am surprised at the amount of recalls these cars have/had. I do not miss mine one little bit. Buying a Ranger to replace it.

Yes that was a concern I had too, the auto guys tell me no signs of any leaks etc and that the cooler is fine also. It may have just been low but there were no obvious signs of it prior to this - no rough shifts etc.

Well the verdict is in, auto is fine. Asked for it to be serviced anyway. Wheel bearing at the rear has broken and debris from that has caused a few problems leading to the brake shoe getting stuck. Hence the big bang and then off you go as normal. So some new bearings, new shoes and clean up...

Possibly? Not sure. Ran out of time to pick it up today so I will check and see if anything was found in the pan etc when it was serviced. Logically if it is not the trans the brakes would be the next thing to look at, maybe a stuck caliper etc.

Four words you never want to hear after something like this. "We can't fault it". Auto guys have been driving it around for a day or so now and no issues whatsoever. Going to service it tomorrow, new fluid and filter and see how it goes.

Mmm, the trip home after the initial 'clunk' was doing around 100kms and once it actually went into gear it was fine. I was very gentle with it though. I am reluctant to rev it to try and get it to move better, at the moment all I am doing is dropping it into D and taking my foot off the brake...

Limp mode crossed my mind too. What does it limit when it is in limp mode? Engine revs freely etc, it feels like it is all in the transmission.
