What is this for (d40 dash)

Removed mine and fitted an extra power socket so that on long trips I can run the GPS off the original socket and the wife can run her portable DVD player off the new one. Works a treat. Easy to remove just have to access a few small screws from behind the dash.

i went 100km/ph in 4HI. is that ok?

You have a green icon??? My 2009 D40 STX only has a difficult to see stick figure of the drive train on the instrument cluster which is easily overlooked. Is there something not working on mine? or is the light only fitted to particular models? I have had the vehicle from new and no light has...

i went 100km/ph in 4HI. is that ok?

Done the same myself in my D40, forgot to take it out of 4hi after retrieving my boat. Drove about 20/25k before realizing what i had done. No noises and still works perfect, has had oil change since and nothing out of the ordinary so hoping no real damage done. Shame they don't have a more...

    Fog Lights

I have a 2009 Spanish built STX and fitted a genuine switch about 2 yrs ago. Part number 25540-EC40B. Cost about $150. Very easy to fit. The lights being a kit I bought off e-bay.

    Replacing brake pads

Surely a place like "Better Brakes" or the like would have a variety of replacements from bargain basement to top quality pads....

    D40 chewing excessive fuel?

Must admit a bit disappointed with my D40 as well, but am slowly getting used to it. The reason i bought the diesel was the illusion of better fuel economy from a 4 cyl diesel compared to the 6cyl petrol of my old commodore. But then one has to be a little realistic, a 2 ton navara with the...

    Fog Lights

If you are using the kits off ebay or have the standard headlight switch you cannot use the original wiring. The wiring on a D40 is quite complicated, all lights are controlled by an ecu. The genuine switch directs various voltages to activate different lighting. Fitting a toggle switch and...

    HID's Too Bright?

Had a bloke say to me once if your not sure if something is legal or not just put "your honor" after it. Because in reality if an accident occurs and your vehicle is deemed to be unroadworthy then a court appearance is the last place you want to be. Good discussion and lots of good info. Work...

    Replacing brake pads

Have heard that there are pads available using a white/grey material which although still produce dust is not as noticeable. I imagine that they would not be a genuine item. That said I recently had an 80k service and was told rotors and pads were worn out and that the usual life span of these...

    HID's Too Bright?

Seems to be the latest trend replacing the original headlight bulbs with HID,s. Problem is the majority of the time they are way too bright. All right sitting behind the wheel but to every other poor bugger on the road they can be very annoying if not dangerous. Surprises me how some of these...

    Brakes worn out?

I had no indication of any trouble before Nissan called, no squealing, shudder or brake fade. I just took their word for it and got them to replace all the parts they recommended. Not much point in doing anything about it now as all parts are brand new, but perhaps next time I get the call I...

    Brakes worn out?

Thanks guys, sounds like I might have to investigate a bit. If it,s just a case of too hard a pad maybe I can fit something a little softer to prolong the life of the rotor, if it,s a case of the rotor being too soft then I suppose the only avenue would be to upgrade next time I get the call...

    Brakes worn out?

Hey guys, just had my D40 in to my local dealer for it,s 80k service. They called half way through the day to say that I needed to replace my front pads and rotors as they were worn out. Rather surprising since I spend most of my driving on the highway. Anyway I gave the go ahead but asked if...
