    Private message content

I would like to think that threads that moderators take part in could be policed for derogatory content towards others as well, however that has proven not to be the case many many times. Unfortunately it explains why I no longer post here, just browse anonymously. When some members are...

Aux battery, anyone mounted one under their D40?

There's LiFEpo4 batteries available that you can specify in all sorts of shapes and sizes - they just arrange the individual cells to your specs. You could do something like Jikerd - behind the back seat - but being the new technology, you get a choice - cut your physical size down by over 1/2...

    Busted navara

I saw that on Facebook today, but didn't get a good idea of the vehicles involved, or the damage coz of the small screen. But damn!

    Clean out intercooler

Petrol, then metho. Metho will dilute neatly in water, but will also combust nicely. And it evaporates well.

    07 D40 Timing Chain Replacement.

I imagine if a tool is needed to hold the balance shaft sproket in place, it would be a simple pin that could be fashioned quickly from general workshop supplies. D40 - I wasn't aware of a need to remove the sump.

    Dogs in V-hickles

Belgian Shepherds mate. Top animals. Always had German Shepherds growing up, but when I discovered this breed, there was no going back for me.

The rattle could be something simple, like a loose mounting bolt/nut, a loose bracket for an ancilliary item...

    Dogs in V-hickles

On teh subject of readily available water.....we travel a lot with our dogs. Whenever we go somewhere with our caravan, they come with us. So having water available for them in the back of the ute (under canopy) was imperative. I picked up a cheapo large round plastic "tupperware type"...

    Dogs in V-hickles

There's not "approved" harnesses for dogs. A dog must be "restrained" when in the tray of a ute, and also when in the passenger compartment of any vehicle. When contained within a canopy or other secure compartment which is not the passenger compartment, it is legal. However if a dog can...

    New 2015 Navara

Yep, a couple (few?) years ago they changed the front bumper. Took out the horizontal crease, and smoothed it out some.

    New 2015 Navara

Nissan haven't changed a metal panel on the D40 since it was released in 2005. Great way of keeping costs under control. I would not expect to see any substantial changes until it's all-new replacement arrives. Based on Nissan's history with the Navara of having a very long model life, that...

    please help

Hi, not sure which model of Bendix pads you have, but I have the Bendix 4wd pads on my 2008 model ute and they are fine - never made a peep in probably 50 or 60 thousand kays so far.

    Diesel chips

There's plenty of us out there running chips, and who have experienced no issues whatsoever. As the old story goes, you only ever hear about the ones who have problems. Fuel usage depends on how you drive it not the chip - it is a product of volumetric efficiency. The more volumetrically...

    D40 NO turbo whistle

Been on a couple of central Aus trips when I lived on the mainland. On both occasions we had vehicles fitted with K&N filters in the convoys, and on both occasions those vehicles had dust leakage past the filter. None of the vehicles fitted with paper air filters had dust leakage into the intake.
