Tires rubbing on chassis after steering wheel correction

Hi team, D40 issue here. A while ago I had my steering rack bushes replaced. After this, my steering wheel was turned to the right when the car was driving straight. In the interim between services, I fitted 265/75/16s. No issues - no scrubbing on the stock suspension and chassis At the...

A/C compressor issue - harmonic whine

Hey guys - well it never bloody ends with this thing! I fixed my timing chain with a yd25.com dual row kit - and lo and behold I get another issue! There is now a harmonic whine from the a/c compressor. It's like a whine, I could beat describe it as "harmonic"... Like a whoop whoop whoop whoop...

Should I do the timing chain or not

For 223k thats looking alright for a YD25 :P Interesting you went another single row kit. I personally wasn't comfortable doing that, given the problem (in my opinion) is that the single row chain drives (amongst other things) a double row chain. When paying for labour on such a big job, I...

Steering knock - new rack or new mounting kit?

Confirmed. Pedders say the steering rack itself has excessive wear/movement (not the mounting bushes) I figured is the rods in the rack had excessive movement, then my seals would also be suffering from that and it would be leaking like a sieve?

Steering knock - new rack or new mounting kit?

Hi guys, I have a terrible knock in the front suspension. I had my mechanic have a quick look over it (he was rushed for time) but he didn't find anything obvious. He was booked out for a few weeks before he had the time to properly check it out, so I booked in for a Pedders 28point check...

Should I do the timing chain or not

The yd25.com.au kit is warranted for 3yrs/60,000km. I'm not sure where all this 200k talk started - but their website says otherwise. Hopefully they do last 200k (I just fitted one), they just aren't warranted for that

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

Car went in yesterday to have a new YD25 dual row kit fitted. It was clear the next step in finding the noise was to pull the timing cover off, so while it was all out, it was worth installing even if it didn't fix the noise. The good news is it did. Below is an example of my chain and guides...

Timing Chain Failures and Oil Filters

Can now speak from experience. My tensioners are fine - however chain had two stretched links. They sit up when going around the cogs and scrape. Plastic guides were chewed out

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

Well I spent the weekend digging around. Pulled both belts off and started the car - noise still there. So looks like the next place to look is inside the timing case. Farkin thing

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

Luke - I haven't tried tightening the belts yet. I just feel it sounds more like a belt/pulley bearing than a chain. I might pop around on the weekend and have a quick listen to yours? Compare the two noises. Would be good to let you hear mine aswell, the video doesn't pick it up well. I will...

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

EDIT: also clearest with the bonnet down. Muffles the motor noise abit better but the other noise shines through

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

Alright. Here is a video. Apologies. It's raw and unedited. The noise I am worried about is not the chattery diesel. I am more worried about the noise somewhat in the background. It is clearest on the passenger side - and is the audible noise somewhat in line with "chug chug chug". Hopefully...

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

The "whirring" noise mine gets - I think I can hear in that video. God explaining what you are hearing over the internet is difficult. I have found a youtube video of a start up rattle and it is definitely obvious. But that kind of rattle isn't heard in the video clip above.

Timing chain noise - register of recordings identifying the noise?

Hi Guys, New to the forum. I have recently purchased a 08 ST-X auto YD25 Navara. I have a TB48 GU patrol (which I love, apart from the juice it sucks), and therefore decided to go down the diesel route. I therefore went a Nav to reduce the running expenses. As with most, the whole timing chain...
