I don't ride the clutch period never have never will, but surely if a different driving style is required then they would tell you or at least make mention of it in the owners manual. In nearly 40 years of driving the only clutches I have ever replaced have been for other people never had an...
I refuse to believe that 2 or 3 seconds of slippage at low RPM and load could generate the type of heat required to cause damage to the clutch, I have an engineering background and years of experience rebuilding engines and gearboxes as well as customising cars and 4X4's etc. I purchased this...
clutch issues
Yes I have tried every which way including that and all I do is look like a dick when it stalls or just bogs down. I have had a lot of diesels both manual and auto, turbo and non turbo and never ever had to rev them to get off the mark even with the van on the back and never had...
Clutch dramas continued
My clutch has just started to slip at 19500 km's so the dealer will be hearing from me first thing tomorrow. Now I read a lot of comments about some blaming the drivers but I operate this vehicle the same as every other I have ever owned and never had a problem before...
I tried it and the only thing I noticed was a slight rise in fuel use, I have now gone back to using Morey's Diesel Smoke Killer in the white and green 1 litre bottle ( treats 650 litres of fuel ) because I have been using it for years. It's easier to use gives much the same benefits and price...
Like most I decided to put the battery in the tub, I used a Redarc isolator and Redarc have a good easy to follow wiring diagram on their website which makes the job easy even for someone with basic skills. I reused all the gear that I had kept from my D22 just had to shift a few things around...
2 inch lift comparison
Wish I had read your post before I had the job done, yes Nissan shocks are shit but the Lovell springs feel OK to me.
Took a pic of a mates ute today beside mine, his is stock factory suspension mine is after the 2 inch lift
New seals fitted
Finally got the new seals fitted and it looks and works great, all up took around 20 minutes to fit including the clean up and cost was $27.50 to my front door.

Finally settled on a setup to lift my D40 by 50 mm and I will book it in tomorrow. I saw one the other day and quizzed the owner who was very happy after nearly 200k and it still looks great so I am getting one very similar. Basically consists of Lovell coils on the front and I will keep my...
Bought my D40 in June this year and got a recall notice to change the sensor in about July, they did not have one in stock so they borrowed one from a car on the showroom floor. Never got to see which one it was or anything but have had no problems.
If you have not had a recall notice yet I...
Must be Nissan dealers in general, my D40 is booked in for it's 10000k service on Monday and I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb, someone I know very well just last week bought a used Patrol from a bloke who it seems was not very mechanically minded but very fussy as far as looking...
Just an update on the sealing issue Flea Bay is your friend. I have ordered a seal kit from the states, it's a universal kit to suit any tailgate but it only cost $28 or so including postage!
The yanks have it good you can purchase a custom door seal kit for the tailgate over there for about...
On my D22 I used some magnetic sheet that I got from a sign writer for the sides, just cut 2 strips about 40 mm wide and pop rivet or glue it to the inside corners it leaves about 15 to 20 sticking out which grabs the tail gate perfectly when you close the gate. stops dust and water, along the...
Fuel economy
Very impressed with my D40 so far, averaged 11.1 for a trip to Dartmouth towing my boat which is a heavy tournament type setup and had it loaded to the hilt with camping gear and no holding back either I was pedalling fairly hard. Also loved the way it performed even with all that...
The wrong Navara
Nearly 12 months ago I purchased a D22 thinking that it was a much better vehicle for offroad operation having heard some of the usual horror stories about smashed sumps etc but then at Camerons Corner not long after I bought it a group of people were there 1 in particular...
