I just fixed a mates creaking nav, it was driving him bananas because he couldn't find a source and greasing/lubing/replacing bits made no difference. Turned out to be the crossmember bolts under The diff on one side were loose, tightened them up and creaking gone. Look for the simple stuff first!

I don't like your chances, it's tight as a drum under that engine, not much room I'd be thinking. I'd use a crane just to be on the safe side, wouldn't want to damage the motor, or worse, yourself.

My seal went and I got this rubbish whistling noise from it. Took off the lid and filled the gap with silicone to the point where a seal would sit (if this makes sense?) then let it dry before putting it back on. Nice tight seal and whistle gone.

Have you looked at your shut-off valve? Try disconnecting the hose to the green (middle) solenoid and see if she'll fire up, or make a note of the position of the shut-off valve. If it's closed, you'll get zip all out of it. If it's open and then closes, it'll fire for a second and turn off...
