HELP! Front end grinding noise in 4H/L

Thanks Tony, But if it were wheel bearings, wouldn't it be making the noise in both 2wd and 4wd? This noise only comes to life in 4wd. Does that point it more toward a CV? This was my first thought, but my local mechanic said diff. I think he might have misdiagnosed....

HELP! Front end grinding noise in 4H/L

Hi all, Hoping someone can help me out with diagnosing the cause of a noise from the front of the vehicle-particulars below: - D40, 4x4, 4L V6 petrol - only happens when in 4H/L - it's in time with the wheel rotating - squeeling/grinding noise - comes on stronger when/after hard right/left - has...

Electric Throttle Control Actuator P1121 Petrol

An update on this if anyone ever has the same problem. I ended up replacing the throttle control actuator (part no: 161197s001) with a second hand unit. This (initially) didn’t fix the problem, (it stayed in limp mode) so I drove it up to my local UltraTune (they have the same diagnostics as...

Electric Throttle Control Actuator P1121 Petrol

Mate - that's great information. Thankyou for taking the time to post that up. It sounds like my issue is malfunction A, which from what I can tell means I'm up for a replacement throttle body. New $1000 plus, second hand only a few hundred. The good news is that Nissan say they sell barely any...

Electric Throttle Control Actuator P1121 Petrol

Hi Guys - I'm getting the below fault code, hoping you can help. P1121 Electric Throttle Control Actuator Vehicle: Navara D40 STX, Spanish, 4.0l V6 PETROL, Manual, 4x4 It's an intermittent problem, where if I reset the computer (by disconnecting the battery for a few mins) the truck works...

how do u get more than 25mm ?

Hey navog-I knew bugger all about this stuff too. But if you google all the forums (the US frontier one too-they're essentially the same truck) you will find 'how to' posts where you'll learn a lot-most with pics. There's even a YouTube vid that shows how to install extended shackles and spacers...

But now ARB have released one?? Maybe there was more to that original story we weren't being told...

    D40 Front Lokka

Hey Foxy - do you think 'shimming' will be required in all cases, or was this just something you needed to do? If all require shims - you'd think they should have sent some with the kit (especially seeing they only had another 4 months to organise them!) Cheers

    The Committee Needs Help!

I'm in Melbourne and can head up (and do anyway every 4 weeks or so on weekends) into the High Country. Sounds like you might have someone sorted to check out spots - but if you need a second opinion I'm happy to put my hand up. Also happy to pick up sponsor stuff as required. Let me know if you...

    Sand Recovery Tools And Techniques

Just some info on the exhaust jack-I had to use one many times on a recent trip down the Balfour track in Tassie. Not for sand, but very wet mud and no trees in sight... Not sure about the diesels, but my petrol has an angled exhaust tip, which meant that getting a decent air lock was...

    winch control box location

Hey Ben, Yeah - like you say, so far so good. The Ironman control box was fairly well sealed - and they offered a comprehensive 3 yr warranty, so assumed they were pretty comfortable with it getting wet every now and then. I have a cut off switch under the bonnet like old Tony, so if anything...

    battery box?

Don't jump into the ARC power box too quick. It seems great at first - and is if you plan on just charging at home everytime (ie wk ends away tops), but if you decide to charge it using a 12v/240v inverter on the road (ie longer trips), it will take a long time to charge a battery between...

    winch control box location

Mine squezzed in under the bullbar, mounted on top of the winch itself (like how the winch is always photgraphed unfitted) It was very tight - and even shows a crease line a bit in the plastic between the grill and the bullbar itself (you'll notice its not ontop like most from my signature pic -...

I'm interested. If all goes to plan, how far off are they time wise?

    blacked.

mate - whatever you decide with the racks, make sure they're not ROLA HDs. They are not well designed for the car and I have had to jump through hoops to get them looking and functioning OK. ARB do a really well thought out rack for the Cab, but not sure if its a true flat rack (and it only...

    new upper wishbones

If you don't have the adjustment in the lower arms its worth looking into these custom LCAs. I have installed offset upper and lower bushes, and still have noticeable camber. Its fine to drive and the tyres aren't showing visible signs of wear yet, but you sure can see the wheels (with 33s)...

    Help !! Engine blown

For what it's worth, there are usually a few Navs listed on ebay that are being stripped for parts. Look these up, make some calls and see what comes of it. My whole car (2007 STX V6 petrol with 160K) was less than that!

    Tailgate mounted jerry can bracket

Thanks guys - all good stuff. I guess I was keen to avoid the costs involved in fitting a Long Range Tank - especially seeing the cheaper brands don't suit the V6 Petrol. I still find this topic very interesting - seeing as everyone and thier dog drives around with a swing away bar with a fuel...

    Tailgate mounted jerry can bracket

Thanks mate, Yeah - will have to look into legalities of fuel on that back - but swing aways work exactly the same. Are they not legal? As the bracket would be mounted to the tailgate, it would swing down with it. I have an ARB rear bar, so it is a bit lower than the standard chrome bar, so the...

    Tailgate mounted jerry can bracket

Looking for some thoughts on a plan to make up some sort of steel bracket/frame that bolts along the inside top edge of the tailgate (with a length of right angle steel, bolting into rear or inside of tailgate, along the top) then hangs down over the outside of the tailgate - and will then...
