2013 D22 Rust

So I recently purchased a used 2013 D22 with 28000km from a dealer and kicking myself I didnt notice there was rust on the front left passenger side between the two door hinges on the body.

Is it best to go back to the (non nissan) dealer I bought it from (still within the 3 month stat warranty) or to try going through nissan as its still covered under the new car warranty ?

don't worry that won't be the only place there is rust. if it has a tub look underneath the tailgate hinges. every d22 i have seen has rust there. also check underneath the door rubbers.

Yea there is a little on the hinges. Haven't had a thourgh look but I havent noticed anywhere else

Are u meaning under the door seal rubbers

Also have a look at base of the front and middle pillars where there is a silicon type bead over the joints,my 2012 D22 had rust showing there ,was fixed by dealer after approval from Nissan.

honestly. I would just scrape off the flaky stuff and neatly apply a rust preventative like Valvoline tectyl.

Repair

Ute went into Werribee Nissan for 30,000km service and to get the rust looked at under warranty (service was to try and sweeten the dealership up before the warranty request).
The initial quote for the work was rejected by Nissan Australia as it was apparently to high, it was initially quoted at $2700.
The second quote was approved within a week, I was offered a free loan car while the work was carried out. I would of had to wait 3 weeks or something so I just opted to take it in the following week as its not my daily driver.
