Hi
This is my first post as ive just recently bought a 2008 str 2.5cr. Now my question is are these engines known to be noisy? happens when i accelerate. rattle sound like a 3.0cr patrol. I have driven many hilux and bt-50 in turbo diesel and they are quiet as. am i worried about nothing or should i take it to nissan. got 67000kms on it. The rattle is bad enough i need to turn radio up. Rattle stops as soon as i release accelerator.
could it be bad fuel, injectors or just normal operation?
Thanks Dave
Ps. this forum is awesome

Mate mines nearly identical 2008 62500 km and same goes but again i dont think ive had the valve shims done so that may be something to look at,,

Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. might take her to diesel mechanic and get their opinion, then take it back to nissan as its still under warranty. Im fairly certain it shouldnt rattle this loud.
took a mate with some diesel experience for a drive and he reckons it could be injectors or injector pump?

scouller, still got the noise. havent had a chance to take to mechanic yet, been busy with work. Got some flashlube diesel conditioner today to see if that makes any difference. trying this 1st before i go down the adding 2-stroke to diesel track. only travelled about 10 kms since i added the additive to tank and no difference yet.

i seem to have the same problem and i have only done 3000ks. tried 2-stroke no change. im just waiting for the next shipment to arrive of the d22 so i can take another one for a test drive to see if its the norm. also need the 2stroke oil to leave the system before it goes in. let me know if the flashlube works.

Why not just take it back to the dealer you purchased it from to check it out. 3000k's is brand new in diesel terms, you should still be covered under warranty
