Hi,
My 2001 D22 Navara is intermittently surging/losing power usually from 3rd up to 5th gear although if I hold it in 2nd too long it will happen also. The motor is a 3.2l diesel (QD32) & apart from this problem seems to be otherwise running well i.e. starts easily, no problems at idle - sits on 750revs with no dramas, not smokey but have noticed some puffs of smoke only when the surging/power loss is occurring. It is also gutless when this happens & hills I usually tackle easily at 100kph in 5th require dropping back at least to 4th & only getting 70-90 kph.

I am not even sure the QD32 has a NPS. Its a mechanical injected motor, the only electronics is the glow timer.

Change the fuel filter, then pull the fuel line off the injection pump. Under that line is a tiny little filter. Also know as a banjo filter, you will need a skinny piece of wire and fish it out and clean and put it back in.

Let us know how you go.

Dave.
