Greetings.

Looking at this one, because it has all the fruit the wife likes - hard torneau cover, nudge bar, side steps, sat nav., still under warranty (30k km), well priced, silver paintwork, looks sexy.

There is probably more goodies underneath this stuff (suspension, motor, etc) - I need to check it further next week.

Anyway, your thought on this Thai built model vs the 2010 Spain built D40 STX equivalent?

I know the STX is better, but what are the differences for 2010 (between ST and STX)?

What should I focus on mechanically and electrically to be inspected prior to purchase? (independent specialist will carry out this pre-purchase inspection)

Thank you.

PS - I have decided to keep my Land Rover Disco D1 for towing and serious offroad duties.

So, this ST will be mainly used for city bitumen stuff and long tours up and down the Hwy...

Grunt.

With a vehicle that new it's hard to say this or that mechanically is a problem.

The manuals MAY develop clutch issues, depending on how it's driven and what is being done (eg towing heavy loads, slow manoeuvres on steep inclindes etc). Some of the 2010 STs developed problems with their turbocharger actuators. I think they were also involved in the recall for the bonnet latch problem - you'll see stickers on it if that's the case.

For bitumen and light touring it's probably an ideal vehicle.

thanks Old Tony.

I just visited the dealer again - and to my horror - a big fat SOLD sticker is plastered acroess the windscreen.

I give it one more fleeting look, turn my back and say goodbye to this short affair I had with this vehicle.

So, this thread is probably redundant now.

Sad......
