I phoned up Nissan to find out how much a spare alloy would cost and not only found out that it would be an arm and a leg, but for 2012 D22's (4x4 ST-R) there's 2 different part numbers. Up to 04/12 is different from 05/12 on.

So my search for a secondhand one has become a little more tricky.

I was wondering if anybody knew what the actual difference was? Or is there no difference?

I'm told the 2 part numbers are
D0300vk41a, and
D0300vk41b

Cheers

It's probably a different paint code . I have two sets ! Original 2003 and a set from a 2005 . Can't tell the difference !

Well according to NIZZBITS, up to April/2012 are $900 and May/2012 onwards are $670

Sounds like a significant change =/

So it's probably the quality of alloy. Buy rims before 4/12 and you will have good quality alloys. No reason why they are different apart from different colour or manufacturers or maybe they are a different offset? Anyone care to measure?

Well... I wasn't able to find anybody who could give me a definitive reason as to the difference between the models.

I did manage to pick up 2 alloys off a 2010 D22 on Gumtree
