245/75 r 16 need help

Hey guys
Looking at some 245 /75 r16 how will these go with my speedo as I have a dx and the standard tyres are 205 r 16
Any help?

That size will actually CORRECT your speedo. My dx with 205r's was doing 90 something kmh on the GPS when speedo was reading 100, the 245/75s fixed it so its dead on.

As said above.

Mine was reading 100km/h by gps when speedo said 110km/h. Now with 245/75 it is doing 100km/h gps and speedo says 105km/h.

For me 265/75/16's make speedo spot on.

Thanks guys just sort of starting to understand tyres sizes a bit better so the 265 / 75 are wider then 245/75 and do they rub at all

First number = width
Second = "aspect ratio" - basically the sidewall height, as a % of width
Last = Rim diameter

So, 245/75/16:

245mm wide
75% of 245 = 183.75mm sidewall
16 inch rim.

So total diameter = 16 inches + (183.75x2) = 774mm total diameter = 30.47 inch

Remember the sidewall height is x2 in total diameter as it goes sidewall, rim, sidewall looking at tire side on for diameter.

265/75/16 would be:

265mm wide
75% x 265 = 198.75mm sidewall
16 inch rim.

Total outside diameter = 16 inches + (198.75x2) = 804mm = 31.65 inch total diameter so

Thanks mate that explains it so u run 265 75 and your speedo is good do u have any problems with rubbing and do they stick out the guards much

I don't now, but have once. No scrubbing, and had no issues. There is a thread on here somewhere about it mate.

I had 265/75/16's, then 265/70/16's and now run 245/75/16's.

Personally I wouldn't worry about any bigger then the 245/75/16

What brand are u using cause I'm alot on the beach so I have been using alterains bfg but apperently u can't get those in 245/75 r16

Currently running kumho kl61, but also highly reccomend maxxis 771/700

jax in my area are doing bfg muddies for $300 at the moment but I was worried they will get chewed up on the road pretty quick does anyone have muddies they run on the road a fair bit
