clunking noise when I depress and release clutch, motor on or off doesn't matter

is this clunk sound coming from the front of gearbox bell housing ? or is it coming from the clutch pedal area ?
if from bell housing its either the pressure plate / the throw out bearing or the clutch fork pin. if its at the pedal area it could be the main pin going to master cylinder or where it contacts the pedal.

Thanks for that, the sound is coming from the bell housing area.

you need a helper to push on the clutch pedal [ on and off ] while you lie under the car and listen carefully to find where you feel the sound is coming from . make sure you leave the car in gear plus chock the wheels so you don,t get squashed if the car should roll . take extra care.
