In the UK and Ireland we're seeing quite a few 2006-1008 D40s with fatal rust issues in the chassis. Until now Nissan UK etc. have not acknowledged the problem.

However this is the latest from the Emerald Isle and if it's true could be a breakthrough;

Nissan offers cracked chassis deal to owners

By Michael Moroney on 14 April 2016

Nissan Ireland says that it is working directly with the affected Navara customers to include either an upgrade offer to a new 2016 Navara, or repairing the issue at full cost to Nissan or purchasing the vehicle from the customer at the relevant market rates.

Nissan Ireland says that it is working directly with the affected Navara customers to include either an upgrade offer to a new 2016 Navara, or repairing the issue at full cost to Nissan or purchasing the vehicle from the customer at the relevant market rates.
A portion of the 5,000 Niassan Navara owners in Ireland have been offered a deal to trade their vehicle if there is a crack in the chassis.
Some owners of Nissan Navara 4x4 crew cab pickups dating from 2006 and 2007 who have been experiencing chassis failure problems have been in contact with the Irish Farmers Journal regarding their vehicles. The Irish Farmers Journal has been in contact with Nissan Ireland on the matter for some time.

Its initial official response was: “Nissan Ireland will report each concern on a case-by-case basis to the manufacturers and supply all vehicle details and pictures of the concern on receipt of the detailed information from our dealers, we will then revert to the reporting dealer as soon as the manufacturers respond.”

It is understood that more recently individual Navara owners have been contacted directly by Nissan Ireland with an offer to replace the vehicle, repair it or sell it back to Nissan Ireland at a negotiated price where it will be scrapped. While replacing a chassis is expensive, Nissan told the Irish Farmers Journal that this option is also being offered to customers, with the full cost of repair being covered by Nissan.

Trade-ins

Trade-in offers up to €12,000 have been made to those owners who are considering changing from one of the 10-year-old problem vehicles to the new-generation 2016 Navara model. Nissan said that the value of Navara buy backs by Nissan Ireland will vary depending on the length of ownership, condition and mileage of the particular vehicle.

Nissan Ireland claims that the Navara chassis problem relates to a portion of the 5,000 Navara vehicles in Ireland and the problem has also been noted in the UK and Iceland.

Probably doesn't help that you guys still salt your roads in winter I'm lead to believe. This practice was fazed out years ago in the southern hemisphere
