d40 clutch gone cant change gears

clutch wont work, i pulled the inspection dust cover off and there was all this fiberglass looking substance in there
i can put it in gear but it wont move at all
any ideas what is wrong
can anyone explain the difference between a smf and a dmf
which is better and will last longer
should i just put in a heavy duty clutch kit in with the dmf
or go to the smf kit
do the odd bit of off roading
