yeah but can they eat pies in them.

Although I find that hard to believe having looked at both of those at one stage and feeling like the only thing that separated them from an old farm hack was the lack of bullet holes in the floor.

Iv never sat in the ford or mazda but theres just something about those utes that seem old fashioned to me, its like they cant keep up with the bigger boys especially with looks and styling.

Atleast they don't look like the Mitsubishi, could never figure out why they made such a stupid looking tub

next time you look at a vehicle thats not a nissan maybe you should place your eye patch on the other eye.

by the way triton is japanese for rice buble.

I'd prefer my Nav didn't snap crackle and pop, (maybe Tritons do that as standard I couldn't hear them with my eye patch on)

triton

they sure do crackle and pop only its the sound of plastic doing the crackle and poping.
i dont think i liked rice bubbles since i was 5 (thats in body not mind):suicide:

I got a set of lambswool ones in the shed I can't get rid of. I think they are only medium and wont fit on the Nav but I can't use Lambswool any more so they have been sitting in the shed for years, they're the best seat covers I've ever had.

Do I want to buy them from you?

Given that the last car they were in was an 85 Ford Laser and before that an 81 Datsun Sunny I don't imagine they'd fit a Nav and I'm not into selling stuff to people that doesn't do its intended job.

I did say that I thought they were medium, besides the Laser seats were not standard and when they were on the Sunny they were too big. Either way I doubt they will fit the Nav, I doubt I will get the sort of money for them I want and I wouldn't sell site unseen unless I knew they were the right fit.

I don't know if this is a D40 only thing or if D22's also have it but under the front passenger seat there is a two terminal socket coming from under the carpet which connects to nothing. Given that on the drivers side an identical plug connects to the seat belt socket I assume it's there for the seat belt light on the dash board and only installed to the drivers side but run to both sides to accommodate left and right hand drive.

Given that hooking it up to the seat belt socket would result in the dash light being on unless there was a passenger in the seat, or the seat belt locked in of which neither is entirely practical has anyone found another use for this socket. I believe its only live when the ignition is on which makes it's uses as aux power limited but maybe there is something else it could be used for.

Given that an audible (read annoying) buzzer goes off if the driver doesn't have his belt on I'm unsure if a load on this socket will produce any adverse effects on the system but given that not having a belt on doesn't actually stop the car in anyway I can't see this being a huge issue, and removing the buzzer isn't a difficult job if using the socket was more important.

I could be wrong here too, hooking something up to it might actually stuff around too much with the buzzer and dash lights and whatever else (if anything) is hooked to the circuit, I guess I wont really know until I do it but I have nothing better to do this arvo.

Whilst some of you clearly feel that the front seats in a D40 are comfortable I unfortunately hold a counter view, principally because I have a back injury. Extended hours behind the wheel even with a break every 2 hours is hard work especially with a 300kg leaf pack in the rear!

Rather than outlay $2k on new brand name seats, I thinking of putting some seats in out of another vehicle. I am thinking the seats out of a commodore or falcon (would get a pair out of a higher spec car) simply because they are readily available from a wrecker.

Some would argue they are not better than the D40 but my partner drives a 'Dore and they are better than my ute from my perspective. Its all relative I guess.

So does anyone know if commodore or falcon seats fit straight in or if not, what would?

Thnx

Gus

My guess is that it's nothing that can't be modified it's more of a case of whether it's a job that needs a pro or just someone competent. I don't believe it's a straight swap as I'm fairly sure the mounting points are different but there are guys out there who specialise in such mods that I reckon would modify any seat to fit a purpose.

One thing I would be careful of though if your doing it to ease your back pain is that you make sure the sitting position between the Dunnydore and the Nav are similar after all it might not actually be the seat that makes the difference in the Dunnydore it might be the position and how your legs and back are placed in the seat.

For me the sitting position between my Nav and the old mans Crewwie is quite different in that it feels like I'm sitting closer to the floor and my legs are straighter in the Crewwie as opposed to the Nav where it appears the knees are higher, whether thats exactly how it measures isn't something I've checked but it is something I'd have to consider before a seat transplant for the relief of pain as opposed to aesthetic reasons.

Mmmm... Good point!

Yeah I had a set of front real sheep skin/wool covers tailor made by a guy in East Brisbane area for my last real offroader (high country etc) Jeep Cherokee XJ t/dsl and recently sold it as when we got the Navara, thanks to Kevin's generous tax break, just had too many rigs. Now have the covers on the Navara and love the whole setup. Am six foot two tall by army measurements an my wife is much shorter, yet she is comfortable with the seat adjustments. Overall, I can't find a thing to whinge about except the blasted crows wreck the wiper rubbers re reflections her rig & mine.
